PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:

The cold has come and the snow has dusted the ground, Christmas must be just around the corner.

After the holidays the activity at the club picks up again in full force. Our club has three teams competing in the Interstate Pistol League, one in the Sporterifle League and of course our junior activity. Any or all of these teams can use the support of the members who presently are not participating on one of them. You do not have to be an expert shot. We all started somewhere and for most of us it was not at the top. It is a great opportunity to come and enjoy the sport of shooting.

In February we will again be conducting our club championships and of course holding our annual SPAGHETTI DINNER on Saturday,Feb.22nd. Looking forward to seeing you all at these activities. Until then have a safe and Happy Holiday.

FRIENDS OF NRA DINNER:

The 10th annual Friends of NRA Dinner will be held on Thursday April 3, 2003 at the Kalurah Temple on Dickson Street, West Endicott, NY.

The Binghamton Rifle Club has benefited from this organization and we should plan on supporting this dinner. See **** or **** for tickets.

SPORTERIFLE:

The club's sporterifle team is having a good season going 7 straight wins before experiencing their first loss. The team is small in numbers and needs help. If you don't have a .22 caliber rifle, the Club has several available for you to use. The team shoots on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m.

JUNIOR CLUB ACTIVITY:

**** has continued to expand the junior club activity. **** has entered the team into the American Legion 3-Position Air Rifle Postal League. The juniors will compete in the NYS American Legion Championships in Utica on February 15th and the National Championships during January and February. The juniors are also competing in the NYSPRA 22 rifle and air rifle 3-position this year. If you know of a young individual who would like to learn to shoot, bring them down and get them involved. Call ****.

BOTTLES

**** has started to drop off his empty returnable bottles at the club for us to return them and put the money in the junior club fund. Any club member who wants to join him with this project will be greatly appreciated. Just drop off your clean bottles and cans at the club and we will do the rest. Thanks ****.

NEW MEMBERS:

Welcome aboard to our new members who have joined the BRC over the last few months. They are: ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, and ****.

HEAT AND LIGHTS:

During the past month some of you have failed to turn off all the lights; failed to turn off the furnace that heats the range; and failed to set the ready room thermostat down to 50 degrees when you were the last one out the door. The Club's rules are that heat and lights are to be turned off when leaving the Club. Please pay attention to these items the next time you are the last one to leave the Club. Let's not waste any resources when the Club is not in use.

MARKSMANSHIP CLINIC:

Unfortunately the Army Marksmanship Clinic we were hoping to have was cancelled until further notice following the sniper attack this fall. Jan Makoske will continue to contact those in charge in hopes that the decision will be reversed.

KIELBASA MATCH:

Our annual Kielbasa Match was a success as usual. We had 40 people who came to enjoy the delicious food prepared by **** and ****. They were also helped in the kitchen by ****. We can't forget **** for her wonderful deserts. Everyone always looks forward to **** and **** pulled pork, sausage and kielbasa. We'd like to thank **** for sharing his homemade wine and **** for sharing his homemade champagne.

We had a good representation of all the IPA teams with 36 22 cal shooters and 27 centerfire shooters. If you haven't made it to one of these dinners keep it in mind for next September. GOOD FOOD-GOOD SPIRITS-GOOD TIME!!

Thanks to **** and **** for donating two cases of beer for the dinner. We appreciate you!!!!
