If you are looking for a different type of
pistol shooting that is exciting and a great
deal of fun International Shooting is just
what you may have been looking for. International
shooting are the events that are conducted
in the Olympic Games, Pan American Games
and the Empire State Games.
The Binghamton Rifle Club has been a promoter
of international shooting for many years.
This has included participating in postal
matches, conducting NRA sectional matches
and tryouts for the Empire State Games. Our
indoor 50 foot range will not allow us to
shoot some of these events at the normal
distances, but by using the NRA reduced targets
you have the same sensation and it is very
good practice.
The events are:
This is a slow fire event consisting of 60
record shots at a target with a ten ring
the size of a dime (50 foot target). A .22
caliber pistol is used. It is truly a test
of ones ability to be steady.
This event is a test of both skill and speed.
It consists of shooting at a bank of five
targets with a .22 caliber pistol. The competitor
is required to shoot one shot on each of
five targets in 8 seconds. This followed
by a string of five shots in 6 seconds and
concludes with a string of five shots in
4 seconds. You will find it very challenging
and a great deal of fun.
Both of these are slow fire events fired
at 10 meters (33 feet) using an air pistol
or air rifle of .177 caliber. The women fire
a 40 shot match and the men are required
to fire 60 shots. The 10 ring for the pistol
target is approximately the diameter of a
pencil and the 10 ring of the rifle target
the size of the pencil's lead. The Binghamton
Rifle Club has a regulation 10 meter range
with individual returning targets.
This is very similar to the NRA National
Match course of fire. This event consist
of three stages, The first stage is slow
fire, with 5 shots in 150 seconds, the second
stage is time fire with 5 shots in 20 seconds
and the third stage is rapid fire with 5
shots in 10 seconds. It is fired with a .22
caliber pistol.
This event is a 60 shot course of fire consisting
of two stages, 30 shots precision and 30
shots of rapid fire or what is commonly known
as duel. .22 caliber pistols are used.
This is basically the same course of fire
as the Women's Sport Pistol except it is
an event classified for men only and is fired
with center fire pistols.
The firearms used in these events must be
equipped with open sights.
